Ibrahim Gobir named as the new Senate Leader by the APC

Sen. Ibrahim Gobir of Sokoto East was named Senate Leader and head of the APC caucus by the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leadership on Wednesday.
The APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, signed the letter, which was addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan and outlined the party’s decision.
Lawan read the letter aloud in front of the entire group.
Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North), the former Senate Leader, was succeeded by Gobir when she left the ruling party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Senator Gobir presided over the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence prior to his nomination.
“With regard to your letter No.: NASS9thS/SP/D/12/ dated 16th June 2022, in which you informed the party of the vacancy of the office of the Senate Leader of our party,” the nomination letter begins.
Please accept the party’s nomination of Sen. Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East Senatorial District) to fill the positions of Senate Leader and APC Caucus Chairman.
“We appreciate your continued collaboration, and please accept our sincere thanks.”
