Ogorchukwu: A Nigerian killer in Italy was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, according to an investigation.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
Filippo Ferlazzo, the Italian man who beat the 39-year-old physically challenged Nigerian man to death last week Friday in Civitanova Marche, Italy, has bipolar disorder, according to Track News report.
According to Track News, Italian authorities have apprehended Ferlazzo, the suspect who allegedly beat and strangled Alika Ogorchukwu to death while bystanders videotaped the atrocity.
The Nigerian embassy in Rome, Italy’s capital, described the incident as “brutal murder,” and Italy promised to investigate the death.
Both Italians and migrants have protested, and Charity Oriachi, Ogorchukwu’s wife, has also called for justice for her late husband.
“All I want is justice for my husband; the pain is unbearable,” Oriachi explained.
According to Track Mews, an investigation revealed that Ferlazzo had previously been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and that his death was not “racially motivated.”
Ferlazzo, 32, was recently admitted to a local psychiatric hospital, according to a court in his hometown of Salerno.
Claudio Bonifazi, the investigating judge, quoted Ferlazzo’s lawyer as saying that his client “collaborated, apologized, and made it clear that there was no racial motivation.”
According to Track News report, Alika’s autopsy results will be released tomorrow.
Ferlazzo is currently being held in Ancona’s Montacuto prison. Track News reports, he will not face any charges of racism.
