Odunayo Adekuoroye Wins Nigeria’s Sixth Gold At 2022 Commonwealth Games

The women’s 57kg Freestyle wrestling event at the current Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, was won by Nigerian wrestler Odunayo Adekuoroye.
The 28-year-old successfully defended her four-year-old title by outdueling her Indian opponent, Anshu Malik, 6-4 (VPO1) to win Nigeria’s first wrestling gold medal.
Before reaching the final, the reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semis in a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.
Nigeria has so far won six gold medals including two silver and five bronze medals at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
