PDP Crisis: Bode George Seeks National Chairman, Ayu’s Removal

Chief Bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, to resign.
Northerners, according to George, hold key positions in the main opposition party.

In all fairness to the party, George believes the South-West should be appointed National Chairman.

He wondered if the North would have accepted that the South-West held key positions in the party.

The PDP chieftain demanded that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) immediately appoint an acting chairman from the South-West.

In an interview with Track news , George said of the party’s crisis, “Ayu needs to resign as chairman immediately while the South-West gets the position in the spirit of fairness.” I cannot campaign for the party in the South-West in an environment devoid of fairness. What am I going to tell our people?

“NEC can appoint an acting chairman from the South-West to provide a sense of belonging to the region.” Ayu promised to leave office once the PDP nominated a candidate from the north. He must resign immediately for the sake of fairness.

“The PDP in its current form does not reflect Nigeria’s diversity.” The North produced the Presidential candidate, the national chairman, and the chairman of the BoT, and they expect the South to accept this. Would the North have agreed if it had been the other way around?”
