The Plateau Police Command has re-arrested Mohammed Ibrahim, one of the inmates who escaped from the Jos detention center.

Mr Bartholomew Onyeka made the announcement when he presented him and other suspects to the media in Jos on Monday.

Onyeka stated that Ibrahim, 39, who was re-arrested by its anti-kidnapping unit operatives, was among those who escaped during the November 2021 jail break in Jos.

According to the commissioner, the suspect was re-arrested in Nasarawa State’s Wamba Local Government Area in April.

“In an effort to apprehend all escapees from the recent Jos jail break in November last year, our operatives increased their efforts and re-arrested Mohammed Ibrahim.”

“Ibrahim escaped from the lawful custody of the Jos Correctional Centre and was one of the masterminds of the facility’s attack.”

“He was in prison awaiting trial for an alleged criminal conspiracy and kidnapping case before he escaped,” Onyeka explained.

The suspect, according to the commissioner, will be handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) for further action.

Other suspects paraded, according to Onyeka, were arrested for crimes such as kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, and unlawful possession of firearms.
