JUST IN: 8 IPOB members detained in Imo, ammunition seized [PHOTOS]

Imo State police said on Monday that they had arrested eight members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), for allegedly attacking the Agwa Divisional Police headquarters in the state’s Oguta Local Government Area (LGA) last Friday.

According to Track News, four police officers were killed in the heinous attack.

The attackers set fire to parts of the division and vehicles, including one belonging to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO).

According to Mike Abattam, the Imo Police Command’s spokesperson, security operatives tracked the attackers to their hideouts and apprehended many of them.

“The Command’s tactical teams, on the 06/8/2022, at about 0300hrs, after a diligent gathering of credible intelligence, raided some identified criminal hideouts located between Agwa and Izombe communities in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, where the hoodlums engaged in a gun duel in an attempt to escape arrest,” the statement reads in part.

“However, we were overwhelmed by the operatives’ superior firepower.” While some suspects escaped, eight were apprehended.”
