Adebayo Shittu, a former Minister of Communications and a major supporter of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the presidency, has described Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as a tactician, saying there was nothing wrong with Tinubu allies romancing the governor.
According to Track News, Governor Wike has recently met with some All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains loyal to Tinubu.

The Rivers State Governor recently invited Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State, and House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila to inaugurate some projects in his state.

According to Track News , Wike also met with the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Kayode Fayemi; Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu; and Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi.

Reacting to suggestions that the immediate past Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who is at odds with Wike, is unhappy with the romance, Adebayo Shittu told The PUNCH that the former minister should be pleased that someone like Wike is associated with the APC.

“No one will stop Wike from coming to APC. You already know Wike is a strategist. If I were Amaechi, I would see Wike’s arrival as a chance to settle and reconcile with him. “What he should be thinking at that point is, with Wike joining the party, will there be any more infighting?” he asked.

He denied that Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, was responsible for Magnus Abe’s defection from the APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Tinubu, according to the former Communications Minister, cannot be blamed for the party’s long-standing crisis in Rivers State.

“Isn’t it a stupid idea to suggest that Abe isn’t intelligent enough to make his own decisions?” Certain things may appear absurd to the untrained ear, but they are always news to the media.

“Abe has been fighting a political battle with Amaechi. Even in the most recent governorship primary, he was unable to secure the ticket necessary to realize his ambition. “Does he need anyone to tell him what to do if he doesn’t get the APC ticket?” he inquired.

“Does he (Tinubu) fight Amaechi?” Did Tinubu say anything when he claimed that some delegates were given bribes to buy votes? That’s because he doesn’t want to get involved. Tinubu, if studied thoroughly, will reveal that he does not take offense at people. That’s why people who oppose him eventually return to him,” he explained.
