Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
On Tuesday night, bandits attacked Yakawada village in Kaduna’s Giwa Local Government Area and kidnapped Professor Ango Abdullahi, Chairman of the Northern Elders’ Forum (NEF), and other villagers.
The attack occurred one month after Sadiq, one of Professor Ango Abdullahi’s sons, was released from the terrorists who attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train.
The bandits, who stormed the village on motorcycles in large numbers, attacked the residence of the Village Head, Alhaji Rilwanu Saidu.
According to a village resident, the bandits kidnapped some members of the Village Head’s family and whisked away some of his neighbors.
“They also went to the resident of the neighbor to the village head and kidnapped the house hold, Abubakar Mijinyawa, along with his two wives, Aisha and Hajara,” a source said. And the two wives were both nursing mothers who were kidnapped along with their babies.”
According to the source, the bandits also killed one patrol guard, Aminu Lawal, during the attack.
Professor Ango Abdullahi confirmed the kidnapping of his daughter-in-law to journalists in Zaria on Wednesday, adding that four of the victim’s children were also kidnapped.
“My daughter-in-law, Ramatu Samaila, was among the abductees, including her four children,” he said. She is the wife of my son, Yakawada’s village chief.”
According to the Nation, three people were injured during the attack and were taken to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria for treatment.
When contacted, DSP Muhammad Jalige of the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) told The Nation that he had yet to receive a brief on the incident.
He did, however, promise to contact the Police Division covering the area for more information on the incident and to update our Correspondent later.
