Production of residential ICT equipment will rise thanks to SecureID
Ibekimi Oriamaja reports
By creating and designing subscriber identity module (SIM) cards for all telecom carriers in Nigeria and all of Africa, SecureID Limited, a local information technology (IT) company, and SID Digital, its technology division, have pledged to grow the local IT sector.
In order to maintain its dominant position in Nigeria’s smartcard, customization, and digital solutions industries, it also stated that it would continue to offer cutting-edge digital solutions.
At a panel discussion on “Deepening indigenous content in the telecommunications sector through an effective regulatory framework” at the first Nigerian Telecommunications Indigenous Content Expo (NTICE) in Los Angeles, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Olanrewaju Oke, stated that the company has the capacity and skill set to manufacture all types of smartcards, including SIM cards for telecom companies in the country and other countries across the African continent.
“SecureID have the facilities and skill set to manufacture for telecoms in Nigeria and the continent of Africa,” he said. “We are a globally accredited organization and the top indigenous producer of telecom sim cards in Africa.”
Buhari says to keep investing in the ICT sector.
“If given the chance, this will not only generate jobs but also positively impact our continent’s and our nation’s economies. We have the manpower and skill set to deliver, which will lessen the ripple effect of currency fluctuations and help to strengthen our economy.”
At the exhibition, SID Digital, a SecureID company, displayed its products. The E-SIM Solution for telecom companies, which enables activation of a cellular plan without the use of a physical SIM, the Instant Issuance Self Service, which enables bank customers to quickly obtain new ATM cards or retrieve expired ones, and the Automated Fare Collection solution, which is installed and operational on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line and allows train commuters to book seats and purchase tickets, were among these.
The Bucca Cafeteria Solution, a platform that enables companies that provide catering services to have their systems well managed and controlled under one platform, was also featured. SID Digital can use the Internet of Things (IoT) to connect any electronic device to the internet and make it smart.
The first NTICE expo’s theme was “Stimulating the Development of Indigenous Content through Innovation and Commercialization.”
The National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents (NPPIC) was intended to be vigorously pursued through the creation of this organization. Manufacturing, services, software, people, R&D for innovation, and people are the four main focuses of this policy.
SecureID Limited is certified by Visa International, MasterCard Incorporated, Verve, GSMA, GIMAC, Card Quality Management (CQM), and ISO 9001/2015 for the production of smart cards and the personalization of credit and debit cards for a range of industries, including banking, telecommunications, high security government cards, retail, and special projects. Additionally, it has customers in Nigeria and 21 other African countries.
