Buhari’s infrastructure development, praised by the transportation minister
By Adeleye Kunle
Mr Mu’azu Sambo, Minister of Transportation, claims that no government has invested more in infrastructure development than President Muhammadu Buhari’s.
Mr Eric Osegwe, the ministry’s spokesperson, said on Saturday in Abuja that Sambo spoke while inspecting facilities in Lagos.
Tin-Can, Apapa ports, and the Mobolaji Johnson train station in Ebutte-Meta were among them.
He did, however, acknowledge that, despite the Buhari administration’s tremendous achievements, there was still much work to be done.
The minister also promised to consult with his Works and Housing Minister, Mr Babatunde Fashola, on how to repair the Tin-Can and Apapa access roads.
“I have witnessed every subsequent government in this country.” There was no administration in this country that had invested as much in infrastructure as the Buhari administration. Unfortunately, our responsibilities do not stop with the Ministry of Transportation. “You saw how bad the road is when we got down at Ijora, the beginning of the Ijora Causeway,” Sambo said. “So, we’re going to talk to our brothers and sisters at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, synergize with them, and ensure that the road is more motorable once again.”
Concerning the kidnapped victims of the ill-fated March 28 train from Abuja to Kaduna, the minister stated that the government was working tirelessly to secure their release.
He also stated that, despite the massive economic loss, running the trains while the victims were still in captivity would be insensitive.
He praised an indigenous company, Sifax Group, for creating jobs for youths and assisting in port decongestion.
Sambo promised to do everything he could to help the maritime industry, saying that “if we get the maritime industry right, we won’t need oil.”
The NPA facility, with a focus on its ultramodern simulation center, and the Ebutte-Metta train station were also visited.
