Xavi breaks silence as Barcelona fails to win against Rayo Vallecano

By Adeleye Kunle
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has urged fans to be patient after the club was held to a 0-0 draw by Rayo Vallecano in their LaLiga debut on Saturday, Track News reports.
Xavi started the game with three of his summer signings, Robert Lewandowski, Andreas Christensen, and Raphinha, at Camp Nou.
However, Barcelona, who are chasing their first league title since 2019, were unable to overcome their opponents, who finished 12th last season.
In addition, the hosts’ captain, Sergio Busquets, was sent off in stoppage time for elbowing Radamel Falcao.
“I understand the disappointment; the expectations were very high,” Xavi explained.
“We’ll have to analyze the game, improve, and continue to believe in the model of play.” Rayo held his ground well. It was more difficult for us to create [chance] than usual.
“It’s unfortunate because we wanted to show the fans that we’re on the right track.” It’s disappointing, but we ask for your understanding.
