A Kano born Nigerian who got married to 46-year-old American joins US Army 

Kano State-born Suleiman Isah, who wedded a 46-year-old American citizen, Janine Sanchez, two years ago, has joined the United States Army.

Isah was particularly enlisted into the California Army National Guard which comprised 18,450 soldiers.
He revealed this on Friday when he posted a picture of himself with the caption, “Alhamdullillah- forever grateful”.

The duo met on social media and thereafter formalised their union in an elaborate wedding held on December 13, 2020.

Janine, a chef based in Lindon, California, travelled to Nigeria for the wedding ceremony which took place at MOPOL 52 Barracks Juma’at Mosque in Panshekara, Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano State.

The ceremony was attended by a former senator who represented Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, who is also a relative of the groom’s father.

Sanni, who stood in as Janine’s representative, commented on Isah’s post while congratulating him on his new status.

The erstwhile lawmaker however mocked those who criticised him for supporting the union.

He wrote, “They criticised me for this inter racial marriage and now Suleiman Isah is happily married and got enlisted into the California Army National Guard. Congratulations.”
