A teen murders his mother for call him bastard.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Tope Momoh, an 18-year-old teen, strangled his mother to death after she called him a liar.
Tope admitted to killing Stella, his 52-year-old mother, two weeks after she was buried.
He was said to have committed the crime at Ikakumi Akoko at midnight on September 6, 2022.
Tope, who was charged with murder on a single count in an Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court, pleaded for mercy.
Nelson Akintimehin, the prosecutor, told the court that the cause of the mother’s death was unknown until her son confessed to being the murderer.
“In his confession, Momoh stated that he was forced to tell his relatives that he strangled his mother to death after she woke him up in the middle of the night, cursing him and repeatedly calling him a bastard.”
According to Akintimehin, the offense violates Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. II Law of Ondo State, 2006.
When asked to speak, Tope stated, “I have not had peace of mind since my mother was buried.” As a result, I was forced to admit that I strangled her to death. “I want the court to be merciful to me.”
Tope’s plea was rejected, and he was remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre by the presiding Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunnus.
Al-Yunnus rescheduled the case for October 20, 2022.
