Abducted ChannelsTV reporter regains freedom

A ChannelsTV reporter for Rivers State, Joshua Rogers, kidnapped in Port Harcourt by unidentified gunmen has regained his freedom.
Some of the employees of the company confirmed the release of Rogers, saying he had been reunited with his family.
Though the circumstances surrounding his eventual release were still sketchy at press time, it was gathered that the state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, played a key role in his freedom.
Rogers was whisked away to an unknown place by the gunmen at about 9pm on Thursday in front of his residence at Rumuosi in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The reporter was driving his official ChannelsTV branded car when the hoodlums accosted him, pointed a gun at him and took him away in the same vehicle.
Rogers was said to be returning from his official assignment in Government House after a trip to Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area for a government event when the incident occurred.
Already, the gunmen were said to have contacted his wife and demanded N30million ransom to set him free.
His cameraman confirmed the incident and appealed to his abductors to set him free unconditionally.
Though the police had yet to release an official statement on the incident, a source close to the victim said the matter had been reported to the police, the Department of State Security (DSS) and the Navy.
There were outcries among journalists in the state as they called on his abductors to set him free unconditionally.
