Abia Guber: Ikpeazu was betrayed by PDP stakeholders – Ex-Deputy council chairman, Promise Uzoma

The immediate past Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro has said that the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu was betrayed by those he invested so much on.
It could be re-called that Alex Otti of the Labour Party, LP, was declared winner of the Abia governorship election, ending years of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, dominance in the State.
Addressing journalists in Umuahia the Abia State Capital on Thursday, Promise Uzoma said that what happened to the PDP was internal sabotage, greed, selfishness and insincerity among some “critical stakeholders of the party” in the State.
He cautioned those blaming Ikpeazu to desist from it because the governor was sabotaged and betrayed by those he invested so much on.
In his words: “it is very unfortunate that Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu who brought every strength needed for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party in the just concluded Governorship election was betrayed by those he invested so much on.
“How do you reconcile the fact that in several Local Government Areas, especially in Abia North, the stakeholders were only interested in delivering their House of Assembly candidates, leaving the Governorship election in the hands of the Labour Party?
“As a matter of fact, most of the so-called apex leaders in several Local Government Areas were only interested in negotiating with the Labour Party leaders for House of Assembly, especially in Abia North.
“There was no Local Government Area where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) put up a strong fight in the Governorship election; they were only interested in seeing that their candidates for House of Assembly won, that is pure sabotage.”
He called on those blaming the Governor to leave him alone, because according to him “the Governor cannot perform magic. Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu prepared so much for this election but he was betrayed by some greedy critical stakeholders.
“Ikpeazu has nothing to lose, history has recorded it for him that he ruled Abia State for 8 years as Executive Governor.
“Those who sold out their party for the Labour Party can now go ahead and queue behind the Labour Party leadership and be treated as ‘second class’.”
Okoro called on the Governor-elect, Otti, to be magnanimous in victory and ignore the advice of desperate politicians who are asking him to start fighting perceived political enemies rather than concentrating on governance
