ActionSA Mashaba Steps Down Ahead of 2024 Elections

Leader of ActionSA Herman Mashaba has tendered his resignation as a party councillor in the City of Johannesburg. Mashaba will vacate his position this month.

In a statement through his political party, Mashaba said he sent a letter to Speaker Vasco da Gama on Sunday and that his resignation would be effective from February 28.

In a statement, the businessman turned politician says another councillor will be given the opportunity to gain experience in local government while he will focus on expanding the party across South Africa in the build-up to the 2024 national polls.

ActionSA aided the Democratic Alliance to gain control of all three of Gauteng’s metros – and has some of its members serving in the mayoral committees and as committee chairpersons.

He recently announced former Midvaal mayor Bongani Baloyi as a new member and part of the team building ActionSA.

The party won 44 seats in the City of Johannesburg during the recent November local government elections.
