Adamawa: Crisis hits APC in MIchika LGA as LG, ward chairmen defect to PDP
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Michika Local Government Area (LGA) of Adamawa State, John Fave, four officials of the LGA, as well as eight ward chairmen of the party, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former APC leaders while alleging injustice in the APC, declared their decision to defect during a press briefing at the state capital, Yola.
Michika, a large LGA with 12 wards, lies next to Madagali, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s home LGA and has always been a PDP stronghold.
“We the undersigned leaders of All Progressives Congress from Michika LGA wish to announce our resignation from the party,” the Michika politicians said at the Yola briefing through Emmanuel Jarafu who held the position of EXCO 1 of the APC in Michika.
Mr Jarafu, reading from the defectors’ Press Statement released at the briefing, said they were leaving for the PDP because of their dissatisfaction with APC leadership at the state and national levels, “coupled with the inability of the party’s stakeholders to work in accordance with the principles of justice, peace and unity” as the party’s constitution stipulates.
“We are also dismayed that some members have hijacked the party for their selfish interest rather than working for the common good,” they added.
The defecting leaders and the positions they held in the APC are John Fave, the LGA APC chairman, Zira Inuwa (LGA Asst Auditor), Markus Tumba (Michika 2 Ward Chairman), Sanda Mustapha (Michika 1 ward chairman), Audu Dabala (Garta Ghumchi ward chairman), Tumba Tilshe (Mikisi Wuro Ngiki ward chairman), Yahuna Kwada (VI Bokka ward chairman), Tihze Yadzaugwa (T/Ngabili ward chairman), Kawa Madi (Moda/Dlaka ward chairman).
