African football star who plays for top La Liga club emerges as major January target for Arsenal
– Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey could be on his way to Arsenal in January
– He is currently struggling for playing time this season at the Spanish club
– And Arsenal are planning to lure the 25-year-old midfielder to the Emirates stadium
Premier League giants Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Atletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey with the hopes of luring him to the Emirates stadium next year.
Since leaving Ghana in 2011, the 25-year-old player has been impressive and has worked his way through the ranks at Atletico Madrid.
Last season Thomas Partey made 50 appearances for Atletico Madrid in all competitions and also faced Arsenal in the Europa League semifinal.
But it has been a different story for the Ghana international this term as he has struggled for game time starting just two La Liga games.
His opportunities could be limited even further in January as Atletico Madrid are said to be plotting a move to sign Rodrigo Bentancur.
And according to the report by Ghanasoccernet, Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to sign Thomas Partey when the transfer window opens.
Emery is said to be a huge fan of the Ghana international from his three years managing Sevilla.
Earlier, TRACKNEWS.NG had reported how Laurent Koscielny who is the captain of Premier League club Arsenal announced his retirement from international football claiming that lots of people disappointed him.
The 33-year-old defender was expected to be in the France squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but he missed the tournament due to injury he sustained.
