Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Iyorchia Ayu, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) national chairman, is under intense pressure to resign, according to Abubakar Baraje, a former PDP national chairman.
According to Baraje, the main opposition party has a history of zoning its party offices.

He continued by saying that it is anticipated that the National Chairman’s post will be assigned to the South if the presidential candidate is from the North.

Baraje recalled a scenario in which Ahmadu Ali, the former national head of the party, resigned following the successful election.

The former chairman claimed that the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) had decided earlier this year at a meeting in Abuja that the party headquarters should be split between the North and the South. He made this claim in an interview with Arise TV.

He continued by saying that NEC agreed that the chairman should not be from the same region as the presidential candidate.

According to Baraje, we have a tradition of zoning our party headquarters. If the presidential candidate is from the North, it should come as no surprise that the chairman will be from the South.

What did I mean when I used those instances? It emphasizes the fact that, despite no one requiring it, we have a tradition.

“We don’t ruin the customs of our gathering. We follow our protocols when we act, and I can assure you that the steps for reestablishing order have already started.

“The chairman shouldn’t resign in response to complaints or cries from anyone. We have a tradition that the party must follow.

“It is part of the PDP’s heritage to advance each and every member without discrimination or fear.

“We will behave in accordance with our traditions and laws. We assert that the process is intended to ensure that we uphold the balance mandated by our constitution. It is a process, so we shouldn’t move it along more quickly than is necessary.
