Again, gunmen kill man in Enugu community

Emmnauel Adigwe reports
Unknown gunmen have again struck the community of Oruku in Ameke village, Enugu State, killing one Chikodili Ngwu.
This development is coming just three weeks after the President-General of Oruku Town Union in Nkanu East local government area of Enugu State, Chief Linus Nwatu, was gruesomely killed.
According to available information, Ngwu, a middle-aged man, is said to be the ninth on the list of indigenes of the community that has so far been killed by gunmen reported to be working for some powerful individuals involved in the protracted communal conflict in the area.
According to The Nation, the victim was killed around 8am within the Oruku market square.
It was gathered that the gunmen ran away from the scene after killing the man and this made the villagers scamper for safety.
According to the villagers, the constant killings in the village has made many to relocate their families to neighbouring communities and towns like Idodo, Akpoga, Akpawfu, Onuogba and Emene.
Also, the community was worried concerning the attitude of indifference by the authorities.
According to some reports, some of the suspects arrested in connection with previous attacks were released without trial and this has increased insecurity in the community.
TrackNews writes that the crisis had led to the death of even the traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Mba in 2020.
The police are yet to speak concerning the development as at the time of filing this report.
