Akeredolu signs Amotekun law’s first amendment
By Adeleye Kunle
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has signed the Amotekun amendment to the Ondo State Security Network Agency Law into law, TrackNews reports.
The new amendment, according to Akeredolu, became necessary due to the state’s increased insecurity. He stated that the amended law will improve the state’s security architecture and help the Amotekun Corps perform better.
The governor also praised the House of Assembly for passing the bill so quickly.
The State Executive Council also made some significant decisions to further shape the course of governance for the benefit of the people.
Mrs. Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, spoke to reporters after the council meeting yesterday and expressed regret that one more death had been recorded among victims of the June 5 terror attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo.
According to Ademola-Olateju, the death toll has risen to 41, with 17 people still hospitalized.
Adetunji Adeleye, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, thanked Governor Akeredolu for signing the amendment. He stated once more that the development will increase the corps’ operational capacity.
