Akpabio will not last as Senate President, many senators who voted him do not want him- APC Senator
According to a news that was published by the Leadership paper online this morning, it was reported that the furore, over the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, is far from abating as some aggrieved senators have concluded plans to challenge the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as senate president in court.
It was reported that the lawmakers, will be challenging the outcome of the senate presidential election in court, on grounds that the ballot papers that were used in the election, were serially barcoded.
It was also learnt that in the aftermath of the election of presiding officers in the 10th Senate, some senators of the All Progressives Congress, were considering dumping the governing party for other opposition parties in the House.
It was reported that one of the APC senators, who did not want his name in print said that even though the election has been held, and Senator Godswill Akpabio has emerged as the winner, there are still questions surrounding his victory.
He said, “The ballot papers were tampered with and compromised and the ballot papers were serially barcoded such that the idea of secret balloting never existed ans also, some of the senators were forced to vote against their will. These actions were not only undemocratic but unconstitutional and embarrassing.”
The source said that many senators, who voted for Godswill Akpabio, did so under compulsion and threat and they never wanted him to be the president of the House and they are interested in telling the whole world how barcodes were used to rig the election during the 10th National Assembly election.
He said, “Why should an electoral process be tampered with ? Until it is determined there would be too many other questions to answer in the 10th senate and this is the first time ballot papers will have barcodes. Godswill Akpabio will not last as Senate President.”
