Akwa Ibom youths get a lift

NEW Breed for Sustainable Development (TNB) has provided free entrepreneurship training and starter packs to over 700 youths in Akwa Ibom.

Group’s International Coordinator Ekpenyong Ekpenyong said providing artisan facilities would create opportunities for youths to earn a living.

According to him, the foundation aims to provide free training for 10,000 youths in skills, such as catering, makeover, leather works, fashion design, audio/visual production, agriculture, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and photography/ videography.

He said the training was in line with the Dakkadda Philosophy of Governor Udom Emmanuel, and the group’s mission to promote skill-based education and entrepreneurship.

“TNB is a vehicle that is creating opportunities for youths to earn a living. It is reorienting the mindset of youths to align with a course that will lead them to the future, apart from providing free entrepreneurial training.”

A trainee, Unyime Okon, who is a caterer, said: ”It was a wonderful and successful experience. A big thank you to The New Breed for Sustainable Development and our instructor’s/trainers”

Another trainee/fashion designer, Umoh Ubong, said: “Fashion is what I had passion for, when I heard of the free training, I applied. I have learnt how to make senator natives, shirts and trousers. My word to The New Breed is that they should keep up the good work because this won’t only help youths, but the society by reducing crime.”
