Not in the same path with hearsays circulating online, the Delta State Police Command under CP Ari Muhammed Ali has clarified that no curfew has been declared in Okpanam Community, Asaba.

This is seen in a statement signed by DSP Bright Edafe, the State Police Command Spokesperson, saying that the said Okpanam community is calm and in total peace.

He added that the police have apprehended two suspects linked with the death of three policemen in the early hours of Sunday, July 24, 2022.

In the words of DSP Edafe: “The Command is closing up on the other members of the gang.”

In reaction to a rumour that a 6 a.m to 6 p.m. curfew had been declared in Okpanam with effect from Tuesday, July 26, to enable security agencies to carry out their job, Edafe explained:
“This is not only laughable but completely ridiculous and a lie put up by some mischievous persons to cause confusion among residents of the community.”
