Allow Free Flow Of Food From North To South Or….., Nigerian Military Warns

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has warned that it will not tolerate the action by any person or group to prevent the free movement of trucks conveying food from the north to the southern part of the country.
The military gave the caution on Friday while reacting to a social media video which alleged that some hoodlums are turning back trucks conveying food from the north to the south.
A statement issued on the development by the acting director for defence information, Onyema Nwachukwu warned that anyone caught in such practice will be severely dealt with.
The statement added that it has launched a patrol along the route to prevent “unscrupulous elements” from disrupting legitimate, economic and commercial activities while members of the public can go about their legitimate businesses without any fear.
It added that anyone caught trying to cause disruption will be dealt with accordingly.

“The Defence Headquarters wishes to clarify that following the tension generated by the incident, joint troops comprising the military and other security agencies were deployed to clear the Jebba–Kaduna road and have since restored normalcy in the general area. There is currently free flow of traffic along the axis, ” the statement read.
“Members of the public, commuters and residents are please urged to go about their normal businesses.
“This is also to give a stern warning to any unscrupulous group or persons who are aiming at disrupting legitimate economic and commercial activities by preventing free flow of traffic and movement of goods in a bid to generate clashes along ethnic divides to desist from such unpatriotic acts or face the wrath of the law.”
Meanwhile, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has fired Salihu Tanko Yakasai as his media adviser after criticizing the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
On Friday, Salihu called on the APC government under President Buhari to “end the security crisis in the North or resign”.
A statement from Information Commissioner Mohammed Garba said the governor had taken the action because of his “indecent remarks”.
