‘Always a joy to be with him’ – AfDB President says after meeting former Nigerian leader Goodluck Jonathan in Ethiopia

Akinwunmi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank Group, has eulogised Nigeria’s former president, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, for his peaceful disposition.

Adesina met with Jonathan at the airport lounge in Addis Ababa and tweeted about it.

He described the former Nigerian leader as a man of peace, adding that being with him was always a joy.

Adesina served as Nigeria’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the Jonathan administration.

He was said to have been nominated by another former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

He wrote:

”It was lovely to see my boss, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan of Nigeria, at the airport lounge in Addis Ababa. A great man of peace with an incredibly kind heart. Always a joy to be with him.”

Jonathan has since settled for advocacy and philanthropy after leaving office in 2015.

In reaction to the post, one of Adesina’s followers, Joseph Ezenwa, wrote:

”Nigerians living in Nigeria and those residing abroad as well as international community have great regard for former president GEJ.

”Sir, I appreciate the fact that you hold him in high esteem as your former boss.”

Another follower, Oluwaseyifunmi Okufuye, wrote:

”A good man! Your story wouldn’t be complete without this guy who brought you from the US and appointed you as his agriculture minister, where you did really well.”
