Anambra Election: Ozigbo Tells INEC What To Do Ahead Supplementary Election

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the Anambra State 2021 governorship election, Valentine Ozigbo, has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to ensure all centres where elections failed are held on Tuesday.
The gubernatorial candidate said with the pending elections, he is hopeful of becoming Anambra State next governor.
Tracknews Online had reported earlier that INEC despite announcing the election result of 20 out of 21 local government areas in Enugu, had declared the Saturday polls inconclusive.
INEC had announced the postponement of the governorship election in Ihiala Local Government Area over alleged irregularities discovered in most communities in the council area.
Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of the University of Calabar while declaring the election inconclusive said “It becomes imperative to bring elections from Ihiala with other LG before valid declaration can be made,”
She also added that the “Supplementary election in Ihiala to hold on Tuesday, 9 Nov 21 and collation will resume thereafter.”
Meanwhile, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo was already leading the poll with ‘massive’ votes, followed by Ozigbo.
With Ihiala’s polls set to commence on Tuesday morning to conclude the process, the PDP candidate who addressed journalists on the ongoing election expressed optimism that his will still emerge victorious at the end.
Ozigbo stated that Ihiala was not the only place where elections failed to hold.
He said: “We have the statistics, and know the areas where INEC could not conduct an election on Saturday, and we call on them to ensure they do so.”
According to him, with over 248,000 votes at stake in Ihiala and other places where the election did not take place, the party still has hope of producing the next governor.
He appealed to the people of Ihiala and other areas to come out en mass to vote for the PDP as a better alternative in the state’s governance.
“After Ihiala, other places where elections did not take place will follow, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC must obey the electoral law and conduct election where it did not hold.
“The party has all areas where election did not hold and will be happy if elections are held there,” Ozigbo added.
