Anglican Archbishop Olumakaiye for burial in Idanre
The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos (Anglican Communion), The Rt. Revd Dr. Humphrey Bamisebi Olumakaiye, who died recently, will be buried in his town, Idanre, Ondo State on December 8, 2022.
His journey as Anglican priest started in Ijesa land, precisely from Christ the Saviour’s Church, Cappa, Ilesa where he was the first Vicar at the age of 24 years.
He became the first Archdeacon of Imo Archdeaconry at the age of 31 years. He served in St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Ijebu Jesa as Vicar and Archdeacon. His excellent service led to his election as the pioneer Bishop of Osun-North East Diocese. He was consecrated on July 12, 2009 and enthroned on July 16, 2009 at the age of 40 years, at the Cathedral Church of St Philips, Otan Aiyegbaju, Osun State.
After a decade of faithful service at the Osun-North East Diocese, Olumakaiye was translated to the See of Diocese of Lagos and enthroned as the 8th Diocesan Bishop on July 30, 2018.
Olumakaiye was elected the Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Lagos after he hosted the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Standing Committee meeting that was attended by over 900 delegates in 2021.
The great priest, who was born on January 28, 1969 died on October 30, 2022.
He is survived by his wife, Professor Motunrayo Olumakaiye and their son, Richard Olumakaiye.
