The All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of Saturday’s Ebonyi Local Government Area election.
Jossy Eze, Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), announced this on Sunday in Abakaliki, according to Track News.
During the results announcement, Eze stated that the APC had won all 13 local government chairmanships as well as all 171 councillorships.
As a result, the chairman of EBSIEC praised the electorate for holding free and peaceful elections.
“By the authority granted to me by law, I hereby declare the following chairmanship results for each of the 13 local governments:”
“One, Mr Ebere Nwogba of the APC, Abakaliki Local Government, is hereby declared duly elected after satisfying the requirements of the law and receiving the majority of valid votes cast at the election.”
“Other APC Chairmen elected included Chinedu Uburu of Ebonyi LGA, Chidiebere Uzor of Onicha LGA, Chinonso Ajah of Ohaozara LGA, Ibiam Nnajiofor of Afikpo North, and Ekuma-Nkama Chima of Afikpo South.”
“The results of each of the 171 ward councillorships were received, considered, validated, and adopted by this commission.” To put it another way, the APC has won in every ward.”
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and other state political parties boycotted the LG elections.
