APC Frown at Planned Protest Against President Tinubu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) UK Chapter has condemned the planned protest by a group against President Bola Tinubu in London, calling it a “misadventure.”
In a statement on Friday, APC UK Chapter Chairman Mr Tunde Doherty said he felt compelled to respond to the recent allegations and statements made by a group led by Aisha Yesufu, an activist and a supporter of the Labour Party.
Doherty stated that the group was planning to stage the protest in London to propagate their claims about the educational credentials of the president.
“We firmly believe our responsibility is to address this matter and underscore the significance of relying on substantiated facts over premature and unsubstantiated allegations,” he said.
Doherty defended Tinubu’s track record, describing him as a “seasoned and distinguished statesman” who has served Nigeria with distinction throughout his career.
He said the allegations of forged certificates were unfounded and undermined the spirit of democracy and fair political discourse.
“We urge the organizers of this planned protest to reconsider their actions and refrain from engaging in such divisive and hateful rhetoric,” Doherty said.
“Nigeria is a nation governed by the rule of law, and we must all respect the democratic process. We should engage in political discourse with civility and respect, and avoid making unsubstantiated accusations.”
