APC Sues Governor Wike Under Executive Order

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken Governor Nyesom Wike to court over recent executive orders affecting political activities in the state ahead of the 2023 elections.
The APC stated that it was contesting Governor Wike’s Executive Orders 21 and 22.
Executive Order 21 prohibits political parties from using public schools for campaigns without permission from the State’s Ministry of Education and payment of a non-refundable sum of N5 million, while Executive Order 22 prohibits political parties from using residential buildings as campaign offices.
However, speaking in Port Harcourt on Friday, Sogbeye Eli, spokesman for the APC Campaign Council in the State, stated that they will not apply for the use of public facilities.
He went on to say that it is an irregularity, and that the matter has been taken to court.
“Our party will not apply to anyone for the use of public facilities for campaigns,” Eli stated. It to a t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. We have already filed a petition with the Court to challenge Executive Orders 21 and 22. So, leave it to the Court to decide.”
Reactions to the Restoration of APC Candidates in Rivers State by the Court
Further, the spokesperson stated that the Appeal Court order overturning the High Court ruling on the participation of APC candidates in next year’s election is a welcome development.
He stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDPhopes )’s of being the only political party on the ballot in Rivers State have been dashed.
“We’ve brought you here to spend time with you and tell you how relieved we are that the Daniels have finally been sentenced.
“That those who had plotted to stop us and thereby deprive Rivers people the opportunity to exercise our freedom as enshrined in the constitution to freely elect our leaders whether as president or governor or representatives whether State Assembly or National Assembly have failed woefully.”
