Argentina’s World Cup parade has been halted following an ugly incident
Argentina’s players and fans took to the streets on Tuesday to celebrate their World Cup victory and parade their trophy.
However, due to safety concerns, the event was cut short after some fans missed the target while attempting to jump into the open bus carrying the players.
The celebration drew over four million people to the streets of Buenos Aires.
However, the bus was forced to make an emergency detour after two fans were critically injured while attempting to board the vehicle by jumping off the bridge.
While the first man made it onto the bus, the second man jumped too late, collided with the back of the bus, and fell to the ground.
The parade was then called to an early halt by security officials. Players were helicoptered back to the team’s training facility on the outskirts of Buenos Aires.
On Tuesday, Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires’ emergency medical services, confirmed eight injuries.
