ASANAKPO CONDEMNS SPATE OF KILLINGS IN YENAGOA

TRACKING>>Chairman, Bayelsa State Volunteers, Hon. Lucky Oyinkuro Asanakpo has condemned in strong terms the spate of recent cult related killings in Yenagoa metropolis.
The Chairman in an interview with the press said, the Bayelsa State Volunteers in conjunction with other security agencies are working assidously to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the killings. The ultimate purpose of the investigation is to effect the arrest of the culprits and their sponsors irrespective of their positions in the society.
He said the government is indeed concerned by the state of insecurity in Yenagoa, noting that efforts are being made by the various arms of the security agencies to curtail the excesses of these exuberant youth groups.
According to him, his office is on top of the situation and that very soon the public will be informed of the true situation on ground.
The Chairman revealed that he has directed the peace and conflict resolution team led by Engr. Igodo Sampson to comb the streets for necessary leads which will aid the agency in finding lasting solution to the gruesome killings.
Hon. Asanapo has asked citizens, commununity chiefs and landlotds to avail the agency with information about cult activities in their neighbourhoods.
He has advised citizens not to be discourged by the present situation, adding that very soon the perpetrators of these heinous acts will be brought before justice.
The agency, he asserted, is working round the clock to nip cult activities in the bud, and that the results will show very soon.
