ASUU meeting with FG end in deadlock – See details
Adeleye Kunle Reports
The meeting on Tuesday between the federal government and the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) ended without a resolution, TrackNews reports.
As a result, the six-month-long strike by public university lecturers is set to continue.
With high hopes of resolving the impasse, the lecturers met with the Professor Nimi Briggs Committee at the National University Commission (NUC) in Abuja.
According to a senior ASUU member, members of the Briggs renegotiation committee did not bring any new offers to the table.
According to him, the committee pleaded with lecturers to end their strike, promising that their concerns would be addressed in the 2023 budget.
The meeting began around 12 p.m. and lasted about three hours.
Since February 14, ASUU has been on strike.
