Atala Oil Field: Minister Receives Bayelsa Governor, Promises To Intervene In Ownership Tussle
The Minister for State Petroleum Resources (Oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, has promised to look into the issues surrounding the ownership of Atala Oil Field said to belong to Bayelsa State government.
The Minister of State made the commitment Thursday when His Excellency Governor Diri Douye of Bayelsa State paid him a courtesy visit.
Nneamaka Okafor Special Assistant Media and Communications to the Minister of State, in a statement said the visit was for the governor to extend warm congratulations on his appointment and commend his exceptional performance in transforming Nigeria’s energy sector.
The visit underscored the commitment to collaboration and advancement in the nation’s energy landscape.
Governor Diri expressed profound admiration for the Minister’s unwavering dedication and outstanding achievements in revitalizing Nigeria’s energy sector.
“I commend the Minister for his remarkable performance in revitalizing our energy sector and urge him to continue the good work,” remarked Governor Diri during the visit.
During the cordial meeting, the Minister outlined key objectives aimed at fostering growth and sustainability in the energy sector.

These objectives include increasing investments by International Oil Companies (lOCs) and boosting crude production to enhance Nigeria’s position as a leading player in the global energy market.
Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the Ministry’s willingness to collaborate with State Governments, particularly Bayelsa State, in advancing energy sector transformation efforts.
“We are open to partnerships with Bayelsa State Government for mutual progress,” stated the Minister, highlighting the importance of cooperation in achieving shared goals.
