Atiku reacts to chant of his name during Wike’s speech in Oyo
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Friday hailed his supporters in Oyo State.
Some of them chorused his name on Thursday in Ibadan while Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike, addressed the crowd.
Wike and other G5 governors converged at the frontage of Mapo Hall to campaign for the reelection of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Atiku’s loyalists chanted “Atiku, Atiku, Atiku…” as the Rivers helmsman urged the people to vote for Makinde and other PDP candidates in the state.
In response, the former Vice President stated that he heard them “loud and clear”.
“I take it warmly as a vote of confidence in me and our great party, @OfficialPDPNig. You proved that my love for the Pace-Setter State over the years is not in vain.
“My promise to you is this: we shall work closely together in the mission to Recover Nigeria”, the politician tweeted.
Others at the event were Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom; Enugu Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; Abia Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu; ex-Governors of Ekiti and Ondo, Ayodele Fayose and Olusegun Mimiko.
The G5 governors fell out with Atiku after he defeated Wike at the PDP presidential primary in Abuja last May.
Only Ortom has publicly declared support for his preferred 2023 presidential candidate – Peter Obi of the Labour Party(LP)
