Atiku will meet with Ex-PDP presidential hopefuls today.
Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, will meet with other PDP candidates today in Abuja to discuss the party’s ticket for the primary election in Abuja in May 2022.
Speculation on Tuesday night suggested that the meeting was a part of the feverish efforts to settle every problem that has arisen since the exercise was conducted in order to reach an agreement on the best course of action.
The aspirant (name withheld) who dropped the hint about the parley suppressed any other details about the gathering.
The source voiced close to irrational anger over the lengthy crisis that has been roiling the party since the primary was decidedly won or lost, as well as Atiku’s selection of a running mate.
Despite attempts by several PDP power blocs to bring Atiku and Wike’s camps together, the fight has continued.
Earlier today, at the Yar’Adua Center in Abuja, the former vice president met with the former principal of the House of Representatives, who were accompanied by the former deputy speaker, Honorable Emeka Ihedioha.
In the federal capital on Saturday, Atiku also met with PDP governorship aspirants from all over the nation to mobilize all important stakeholders ahead of the start of the presidential campaign on September 28, 2022.
In an effort to position the party favorably for the country’s general election in 2023, Atiku also extended hands of fellowship to the troubled governor of Rivers and his allies while in London.
I just finished a meeting with past presiding officers and leaders of the House of Representatives at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Atiku wrote in a tweet on Tuesday about his encounter with them.
The meeting gave us the opportunity to ask for their help in creating a grassroots network for our upcoming campaign.
The second advantage is that it gives lawmakers insight into some of the measures we will implement. Overall, the afternoon was wonderfully spent, and I appreciate each person who accepted my invitation.
According to information obtained by Nigerian Tribune, the debate comes as a senior member of the main opposition party revealed that the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) has scheduled a meeting for today as a lead-up to the party’s National Working Committee tomorrow (Thursday) over calls for Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the PDP, to resign from office in order for the South to elect an acting chairman to ensure power.
Charles Aniagwu, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, has now been designated by him as one of his spokespeople for the 2023 presidential campaign.
Aniagwu’s hiring is effective immediately, according to a press release from Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, who also underlined that one of Aniagwu’s responsibilities will be to keep the electorate informed about developments in the presidential campaign.
Aniagwu is a professional broadcaster with more than 20 years of experience in the media, it was further mentioned.
He joins other new hires who had been named earlier as campaign spokespeople.
