AU, UN, ECOWAS delegation arrived Niger, mission revealed
Delegates of the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the United Nations (UN) will will be in Niger Republic on Tuesday, August 8, to meet with coup leaders.
A foreign news media reports that the delegation is set to arrive in Niamey, Niger’s capital “in the coming hours” to hold talks with the rebels on behalf of the international community.
It was reported that the move was to restore the country’s disbanded institutions.
It was also relayed that the Nigerian government had also boasted that Nigeria could provide more than half of the 25,000 troops for the invasion of Niger if necessary.
The media outfit added that military from Senegal, Benin and Cote d’Ivoire could also participate in the operation.
