Avoid Another Strike – Orji Kalu Tells FG, ASUU

Senator Orji Kalu, the legislator representing APC-Abia North, has lauded the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for suspending its eight-month strike.
Doubling as the Senate Chief Whip, Kalu called on the Federal Government and ASUU to resolve internal issue at a common ground to avoid future industrial actions.
The lawmaker praised the executive and legislative branches of government for continuous engagement with the universities union.
Kalu noted that being an advocate of quality and affordable education, he had been in regular engagement with the union.
Speaking with Track News Nigeria, his words: “Both parties must establish a common ground to avoid any strike in the future.”
Kalu argued that education is a panacea for development and must be a top priority in the policy thrust.
Stressing that the government has financial challenges, he urged the authorities to do their best to improve the quality of education.
The senator advised students of tertiary institutions to remain peaceful, steadfast and committed to their academic pursuits
