Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

After receiving a vote of confidence from the National Executive Council (NEC), Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), praised the body.
At its 97th meeting, held on Thursday in Abuja, the party’s NEC gave Ayu a vote of confidence, according to Track News.

This was a follow-up to a motion made by the House Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, and seconded by Ishola Balogun, a party mainstay from Kwara State.

Additionally, the National Working Committee led by Ayu received a vote of confidence from the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) (NWC).

Ayu expressed his gratitude to the NEC and party members for allowing him to continue leading the party in the wake of the development before the general elections of 2023.

The NWC, according to the national chairman, would keep guiding the party’s ship in the right direction.

Ayu also said that differences of opinion among party members were common and that it was more important how those differences were resolved.

Despite all first impressions, he continued, there are occasionally disputes within families.

“I believe that this party has a reputation for mediating conflicts and going on to win elections in the past. This instance is not unique.

“I am pleased that most people are considering attending our party. We have done it before, and I think we will do it again, because we can disagree among ourselves within reason.

Wike’s Ayu Must Leave
Despite Walid Jibril’s resignation as chairman of the Board of Trustees, Governor Nyesom Wike has maintained that Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP chairman, must quit.

Wike reaffirmed his position on Ayu’s resignation and cited a purported commitment made by PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar after winning the party’s primary election in May.

Wike said that Atiku gave him the assurance that Ayu would step down as party chairman.

Jibrin’s resignation as head of the Board of Trustees won’t prevent the governor from calling for Ayu to be fired, he claimed.
