Babcock lecturer, Prof. Enyi arraigned for allegedly stealing two cars worth $20,000

The Police at the Zone 2 Command, Lagos have arrested a lecturer at Babcock University, Prof. Patrick Enyi, 62, and charged him before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing two unregistered cars worth $20,000 and N1.4m belonging to Mrs Chocolate Obasoaya.

Enyi was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate Court sitting at the Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court Oyingbo, Lagos on a three count charges bordering on stealing and forgery.

Police Counsel, Francis Igbinosa informed the Court in the charge marked D/03/2022 that the defendant committed the offence in 2012 and 2018 at 17, Adeyemi Adesoji Street, Alamutu Estate, Fagba, Iju, Lagos.

Igbinosa told the Court that the defendant, a professor allegedly stole two unregistered cars namely a Lexus valued $18, 000 and a Nissan Maxima cars valued at $12, 000 belonging to the complainant, Dr. Chocolate Obasoaya.

Igbinosa further told the Court that the defendant also allegedly forged the documents of the complainant’s landed property and used the documents to sell part of the land for N1, 400, 000 and converted the money to his use.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under sections 287 (10), 365 (1) 3d, e and 287 (1) 94b, c, d of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Magistrate, Mrs Fowowe granted him N1, 000, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Fowowe adjoined the case till 21 April, 2022 for trial and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfected the bail conditions
