Barr. Igbeta Commends Gov. Diri On Massive Youths Empowerment & Appointments In His First Term
**Call On Him To Wean Youths From The Ministry Of Youths And Sports Development : For Effective Service Delivery & Youth Management In Bayelsa State
The Scribe of the Bayelsa State Center for Youths Development, Barr. Ayebakuro Igbeta has again congratulated Sen. Douye Diri for his deserved victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election, Barr. Igbeta who also doubles as the Secretary-General of the Prosperity Youths Coalition noted in a statement released to newsmen reiterates that the victory of the government was made easier by his affirmative stand and action on youths development and empowerment which saw him for the first time in Nigeria, reserve for the youths, the highest percentage of government appointments.
“In the just concluded elections, we all witnessed how the youths, encouraged by the policy thrust of our dear governor went all out to ensure the continuity of the Prosperity administration, whereby everyone was ready to pay any price to prevent anyone from stealing or hijacking the popular mandate of the Governor who no doubt has by his sincerity of purpose for the development of Bayelsa state has endeared himself to all and sundry in the state.
This administration has been one for youths and has shown that given the right platform, Bayelsa youths are equipped for leadership roles even at executive levels, it is on this note I call for the separation of the Ministry of Youths from the Ministry of Sports for effectiveness” the statement read in part.
Igbeta proposed that due to enormously vast nature of sports administration, it requires the constant supervision of professionals in the various fields to bring in the laurels, but while the ministry as presently mandated has done well for the sports sector, hence it has kept lagging behind its obligations as regards youths management, therefore going into the second term of the administration, the governor may consider weaning the youth system from the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, by separating the youths ministry from that of sports, and appointing a recognizable youth figure of his choice to man that office for effective discharge of the duties and callings of that aspect of governance, in executive capacity.
The former students union leader, legal adviser of the IYC Worldwide and Special Assistant (S.A) to the then Managing Director of the NDDC, Prof.Nelson Brambaifa, further called on the governor to also consider the restructuring and empowering of the Center for Youths Development for effectiveness, as he takes his second oats of Office come 14th February, 2024.
The statement concluded with an announcement to Bayelsa youths to get set for a leadership training course which will soon be put together by the Doubra Kumokou led Prosperity Youths Coalition in partnership with leading mentors in the field, coming up in January 2024, to prepare youths for different roles in governance during the Prosperity Seconf term and their private adventures.
