Bayelsa Health Commissioner Inaugurate States’ Emergency Medical Treatment Committee

The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe has inaugurated the Bayelsa State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee(NEMTC) responsible for the policy, governance, and direction of the emergency services across the entire State.

Prof. Seiyefa Brisibe held the inauguration yesterday in a meeting with the Ministry’s Directors, Staff, Members of the State Primary Health Care Board, Red Cross, among others.
He charged the newly inaugurated team on more commitments to strengthening the referral systems and getting timely response to all health emergencies very well across the State.
“For emergency medicine, timely response is the only tool in saving lives and that’s the type of system we want and of course we are aware of the National Emergency Medical Treatment Committee and Ambulance Service Framework, hence the need and importance to inaugurate our States’ chapter for more effective services” he stated.
The Bayelsa State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee had, Dr. E.T Omu as Chairman, Dr. Malcolm Brisibe as Secretary, and other Chief Medical Directors, Directors, and Police Officers, as members of the Committee.
The Commissioner, congratulated them for accepting to be partners in progress and for the task ahead, he further encouraged them not to disappoint Bayelsans on the workforce at developing and improving the quality of life of every citizen of the State.
He added that as a Ministry, they’ll continue to work tirelessly on curbing health emergencies most especially outbreak of diseases swiftly in total support of the Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri to continue in the development of the State.
