Bayelsa mourns the death of Immediate Past Chief Judge Hon. Mrs. Kate Abiri

Yenagoa – Tears and mourning have enveloped Aleibiri and indeed the entire Bayelsa State following the news of the death of Hon. Mrs. Kate Abiri, the immediate past Chief Judge of the State.
Mrs. Abiri, who was 65 years old, died in the early hours of today, August 3, 2023, after a brief illness. She was a highly respected jurist and legal practitioner, and her death is a great loss to the State and the legal profession
Mrs. Abiri was born in Aleibiri in 1958. She attended the Government Girls Secondary School in Yenagoa, and then proceeded to the University of Lagos, where she obtained a law degree. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1982.
Mrs. Abiri began her legal career as a magistrate in the Bayelsa State Judiciary. She was later appointed a judge of the High Court, and then the Court of Appeal. In 2015, she was appointed Chief Judge of Bayelsa State.
Mrs. Abiri was a dedicated and hardworking judge. She was known for her integrity and her commitment to justice. She was also a mentor to many young lawyers.
Her death is a great loss to the State and the legal profession. She will be remembered for her dedication to her work, her commitment to justice, and her love for her community.
