The Bayelsa State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr. Allen Amadein, has called on residents of the state to take advantage of the party’s ongoing electronic registration exercise to either join as new members or revalidate their existing membership.

Amadein made the appeal as part of efforts to expand the party’s base ahead of future political activities, emphasizing that the digital registration portal remains open and accessible to all interested individuals. He encouraged Bayelsans to visit the official SDP registration website to complete the process.

According to him, the initiative is designed to simplify membership enrollment and ensure broader participation across the state. He noted that the e-registration platform allows both first-time registrants and returning members to formalize their association with the party without unnecessary delays.

The state chairman also addressed concerns about political party affiliation, stating that there is currently no legal restriction preventing individuals from registering with more than one political party. He maintained that Nigerians have the constitutional right to freely associate with any political organization of their choice.

Citing provisions of the 1999 Constitution, Amadein stressed that citizens are entitled to join or leave political parties at will. He described this as a fundamental democratic right that should be exercised without fear or hesitation.

He further urged those who may have previously registered with other political parties to consider enrolling with the SDP as well, insisting that such a decision does not violate any existing law. According to him, the party remains open to all Nigerians who are interested in its ideology and vision.

Amadein framed the ongoing registration drive as a crucial step toward strengthening the SDP’s presence in Bayelsa State. He said increasing membership would position the party to play a more active role in the state’s political landscape.

The chairman also highlighted the importance of early participation, warning that delays in registration could limit opportunities for involvement in future party activities. He encouraged residents not to postpone their decision, describing the current period as a critical window for engagement.

He reiterated the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and grassroots mobilization, adding that the e-registration initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize its operations and reach a wider audience.

The SDP, which has been working to expand its influence in various parts of Nigeria, has increasingly turned to digital tools to attract new members and streamline internal processes. Party officials believe that online registration will enhance transparency and accessibility, particularly among younger demographics.

Amadein concluded his appeal by calling on Bayelsans to act promptly and take advantage of the opportunity to align with the SDP. He expressed confidence that the party’s message would resonate with residents seeking alternative political platforms.

The registration portal remains active, with party leaders continuing to mobilize support and encourage participation across the state.
