Bayelsa State Commissioner For Transport Assures Transport Unions Of Ministry’s Authority

The Honorable commissioner for transport; Preye Brodrick, has assured members of transport unions in the state that the Ministry of Transport exists to protect their interest and that the ministry is still in charge of all transportation-related matters.
The Commissioner, reiterated that the Ministry of Transport remains the solely recognized authority in charge of all transport-related matters and as such, any new developments including issues of revenue generation from road transport unions will be duly communicated to unions leadership and members. She therefore urged all transport unions to disregard any directive or information from any other source.
The commissioner stated this during a meeting she held with the leadership and members of all Transport Unions operating in Bayelsa State at the Ministry of Transport Conference Hall on Thursday, 14th November, 2024.
She commended members of the various transport unions for their calm and peaceful disposition in recent times and encouraged them to go about their businesses, continue to maintain the peace built by the Prosperity government.
Responding on behalf of the members of the transport unions, the State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Eminah Dinyoerinyu expressed appreciation to the Honorable Commissioner for calling for such crucial meeting and pledged that the unions will continue to work in synergy with the ministry to move the state forward.
Attendees at the meeting comprised of representatives from National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), and Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) as well as management staff of the Ministry.
