Bayelsa students suspend president indefinitely over alleged corruption.

The 24th Senate Council of National Union of Bayelsa State Students (NUBSS), an umbrella body of all students studying in various institutions in Nigeria and out of the country has suspended its National President, Comrade Comr. Yenne Ebobrah Dennis over allegations of misconduct, TrackNews Nigeria reports.

In a letter of suspension, which was signed by the various Senators in the Council of the accused the president of misappropriation of the union’s funds.

They also accused him of working unilaterally and carrying out financial transactions without the consent of the other executive members.

The council, therefore, directed Comrade Dimie to stop parading himself as the president of the union and handover all documents and property belonging to the union in his possession to the vice president.

That the student community is deeply committed to working closely with the prosperity Government of His Excellency, Senator Duoye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa state on the delivery of crucial and critical infrastructure for the growth and prosperity of all Bayelsans.

That the student community appreciates and applaud the Governor for his student friendly disposition and the provision of essential facilities for the students to assemble and discuss issues that are germane to the welfare and academic advancement of the students of Bayelsa state extraction.

That the students are appreciative of the provision of office spaces of NUBSS, NANS, IZON – IBE students and furnishing of the office spaces which has not happened in the history of the student movement of the state.

That the Senate council has unanimously suspended the president of NUBSS worldwide, Comr. Yenne Ebobrah Dennis for gross inefficiency, abuse of office, financial recklessness and impropriety, wilful disregard and disobedience to constituted authority and a threat to peace and security of Bayelsa state, in his stead, the Vice President, Comr. Grace Collins Azibanagir would act pending a substantive election for a replacement from the same catchment area.

That an investigation committee chaired by Senator Ayibanengimote George with Senator George Collins Kigigha, Senator Osain Rita, Senator Selena Ranson and Abaribote Genesis as members is by this directed to present a concrete report on the misconduct of the President within 5 working days.

That the student community desires the substainance of the Bayelsa state Loans Board and applauded the management for their resourcefulness and efficiency in managing the Board and the scarce resources of the state at their disposal.

That the student community would still desire the State Government to reconsider the payment of bursary, granting of scholarship scheme and financial support to Bayelsans wishing to study in our local and foreign instutions across the globe for First Degree, Post Graduate and phD Levels and also a NUBSS HOUSE Where students of Bayelsa state and their colleagues from other states would be holding meetings and also as a source of generating revenue for the student body. This would be a huge credit to the Prosperity Government of His Excellency, Senator Duoye Diri.

“The president is hereby suspended indefinitely and shall within 48 hours handover all documents pertaining to his office to the vice president who is by law required to assume office of the present pending the final investigation into the case,” the letter read in parts.
