Bayelsa Youth Commissioner Sues for Peace in Nembe.

TRACKING>>The Honourable commissioner for Youth Development Bayelsa State Udengs Eradiri has urged youths in Nembe Local Government Area (LGA) of Bayelsa to promote peace to sustain investors interest in the coastal settlement. .

The commissioner made the call in an press statement sent to Tracknews.

He further state that “Everyone in Nembe, should be involved in peace building, the youths should eschew violence because a lot is in the offing at this time the attention of the Bayelsa and Federal government is focused on Nembe.

“The attention of the Ministry of Youths, Bayelsa State has been drawn to an ongoing violent protest in Nembe, Nembe Local Government Area.

We understand that a protest was initiated by youths against the activities of the oil company operating in the area. Though our people are entitled to peaceful demonstrations especially in the face of operational deficiencies of oil companies in our communities, application of any form of violence in such protest is against the law and public order.

Our communities should not allow oil companies to destroy their bond of unity and peaceful coexistence. They should not be cajoled by these companies to pick up arms against their monarchs and other established leadership structures in their commumities..

We appeal to the youths and other persons involved in the protest at Nembe to desist from it and remain calm. Violence cannot solve the problem; it will only make it worse. Dialogue remains the only way to resolve all issues.

We want to assure the good people of Nembe that the Restoration Government of Hon. Seriake Dickson has decided to wade into the matter with a view to resolving all the problems.
