Bayelsans Should Sustain The Peace Created by Governor Diri – Dr. Wariowei
The Senior Special Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Hon. Ebiwari Wariowei (Ph.D) has appealed to Bayelsans to sustain the peace created by Governor Diri led administration.
Dr. Wariowei stated this amongst other issues when he appeared on a TrackNews Live TV Programme “Prosperity Hour” where he outlined the achievements of SDGs in the State upon Governor Diri’s assumption in office.
“As one of the top aides of the Governor I can tell all Bayelsans and the world that Diri has done marvellously well in all sectors” Dr. Wariowei said.
He said SDGs have 17 Goals such as providing drinkable water, good schools, good health care etc. Though there are some challenges of awareness by the people about SDGs and her Programme and funding from donors especially Multinational Corporations.
He said as a State, the Governor has gone extra mile in making SDGs work and to achieve her goal before 2030 SDGs Agenda ends.
Dr. Wariowei said they have trained over 300 Bayelsans in various skills and paid them N30,000 training allowance monthly as some lasted between three and six months and at the end shops were rented for all beneficiaries fully paid for them.
“We’ve successfully built some hospitals and roads in Communities that have not experienced Government presence before now and we’re also in collaboration with the State Ministry of Water Resources to make water available especially for the State Capital”, Dr Wariowei said.
According to the S.A, in their various Conferences, UN and other Partners are complaining of paucity of funds due to 2020 COVID-19 PANDEMIC, but Governor Diri is working round the clock for Bayelsa to enjoy the 17 Goals to the latter.
Wariowei congratulated Governor Diri and applauded him for doing so well and that Bayelsans known that Diri has brought peace and development to the State that was why he won convincingly, that even the opposition voted for the Governor, as Bayelsans has come to realize that it is not about political party, but the development of the State is key.
He said Diri, being a Governor of Bayelsa State at this time is not accidental, because he has been in the struggle of the creation of Bayelsa State as a Pioneer Secretary of jaw National Congress and he knows what his people wants that is why we are seeing his style of governance cool and calm and different from others.
Dr. Wariowei said Governor Diri is not the talking type, but convince and disprove his critics with viable, visible and sustainable developmental Projects across the State which earned him the landslide victory on 11th November, 2023.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, who is also a “Knight” in the Anglican faith, said Bayelsans should expect more developmental projects in this second term especially in the State Capital with the deliberate Urban renewal programme.
“Bayelsans shouldn’t be afraid, they’ve once again entrusted their resources to the man that has the development of Bayelsa State as his topmost priority” Dr Wariowei said.
“I pray and appeal to all Bayelsans to sustain the peace we are enjoying for more developmental projects, because there is no development where there is insecurity”, Dr. Wariowei added.
