Benue South APC leaders make final decision on Alia’s running mate for the 2023 governorship
By Adeleye Kunle
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the All Progressives Congress, APC, leadership in Benue South has made its final decision on the party’s governorship candidate’s running mate, Tracks News reports.
The leadership, led by former Agriculture Minister Audu Ogbe, has narrowed its choice to three people.
Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia is the APC’s governorship candidate in Benue State.
Following Alia’s election, the deputy governorship seat was zoned to the Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C.
In order to present Alia with a formidable running mate, the party’s leadership had previously narrowed the field to just three candidates.
Following a series of meetings and consultations, party leaders in Benue South stated that the three nominees would decide among themselves and present one candidate for the deputy governorship position.
Barr. Sam Ode, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Isaac Egboja, and Benjamin Abuh Omakolo are among the nominees.
The party said in a statement issued jointly by Chief Audu Ogbeh, APC Benue South Leader, and Chief John Ochoga, Chairman, Zone C Elders’ Forum, that the trio was chosen after a series of meetings and consultations.
